Outstanding participation of Panama in Sea Asia, Singapore 2013





Panama as the world leader in ship registration, with more than 9 thousand vessels under its flag, with a commercial aquatic route per excellence such as the Panama Canal, and a platform of multiple logistic services and for cargo, was present at Sea Asia Singapore 2013 through a promotional stand shared by the Panama Maritime Authority of Panama and the Panama Canal Authority.

Sea Asia represents a window of new technologies, designs and maritime-logistic solutions that gives to users of the maritime sector the possibility to improve their corporate profile in a growing and competitive market, as well as to optimize the creation of business networking, and to show their products and services to the principal international and regional buyers.

The Directorate of Merchant Marine of the Panama Maritime Authority successfully complies with the ISO 9001: 2008 certification






The Directorate of Merchant Marine of the Panama Maritime Authority successfully obtained the approval of the pursuit audit for the verification of the ISO 9001: 2008 certification, complying with all the requirements and having no disconformities in the efficiency of client services rendered.

 “The entity keeps a quality standard in the services it renders, as a result of the continuous improvement in the processes developed”, said Eng. Jose Luis Wong, chief auditor of the certification entity Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Inc. (LRQA).

By consequence of these results, the Directorate of Merchant Marine consolidates their services of excellence under this quality certificate in all its locations such as: Panama headquarters and SEGUMAR offices in Tokyo-Japan, Piraeus-Greece, New York, USA, the permanent mission of Panama in London-UK and now in the new Segumar offices in Singapore and South Korea.

During the audit, the Lloyd’s auditors team verified the operational processes involved within the reach of the Quality Management System in areas such as: Client Service, Monitoring and Improvement, Navigation and Maritime Security, Inspections, SEGUMAR, Providers Control, Management Indicators Review, among others.

Likewise, the main responsibility of the Directorate of the Merchant Marine with international clients was pointed out during the audit, being considered as the presentation card of the Panamanian flag before shipowners whom wait for the higher quality standards from Panama as world leader in ship registration.
